Tie-dyeing has been around for a very long time. Most people probably remember the 60's and 70's being the time when it was the most notable or popular. However, some of the earliest examples date all the way back to the Sui Dynasty of China back in the 5th century. The term Tie-Dye is used to describe the technique of "resist dyeing" methods, resulting in the fabric being colored in certain areas while remaining the original color of the fabric in others. This is typically achieved by folding, twisting, and pleating the fabric before binding the areas with string or rubber bands. Then various colors of dye are applied to different areas as desired.

In this neat clip, TikTok user 'Tye Die and Good Vibes' shows off an awesome design he made after putting in 12+ hours into getting the shirt prepped. The result is truly badass. I had no idea you could even be this precise and make such intricate designs with tie-dye.
